I teach pretty much all styles: pop, blues, jazz, folk, country, rock, and classical, and also music theory, composition and improvisation, using whatever techniques work best for the learner. Lessons are custom-designed for students – including consideration of material, skill level, age, and experience, and are focused on what they want to do musically.
Together we find the best pace at which to cover the material and can tweak that from time to time to make sure the student always experiences some forward progress, but never feels overwhelmed.
The youngest student I have taught with this method was 4 years old, and the oldest was 87. They all progressed well and enjoyed the process. We continue to perfect the way we communicate musical skills, keeping the tone of the lessons positive, cheerful and exciting.
Also, the lessons are designed to be fun - else, why bother?
